Break Through School Learners and Staff Shine for Hello Yellow Mental Health Day

On Friday 10th October 2025, learners and staff at Break Through School in Belvedere, Kent came together to support World Mental Health Day with the theme Hello Yellow.

The school marked the day with a variety of engaging activities designed to promote mental wellbeing and encourage learners to explore ways to look after their mental health. Learners and staff wore yellow clothing, nail polish, and hairbands, and enjoyed a yellow-themed picnic at lunchtime. In addition, a Core Skills session focused on strategies to manage low mental health, and learners were encouraged to share their own tips and tricks for maintaining wellbeing.

The creative and reflective activities also included learners designing their own mental health slogans, combining learning with self-expression and positivity. The school shared highlights of the day on their Instagram page, @breakthroughschool_belvedere, showcasing the sunny, cheerful atmosphere and the enthusiasm of both learners and staff.

Ruth Elliott, Principal at Break Through School, said:

“It was fantastic to see our learners and staff fully engage with Hello Yellow Day. Everyone took part with so much energy and creativity, and it was wonderful to have meaningful conversations about mental wellbeing. Days like this help to build understanding, resilience, and a positive culture where our learners feel supported and empowered.”

The Hello Yellow activities provided a vibrant and impactful way to raise awareness of mental health, while giving learners practical strategies to care for their own wellbeing.
